Here's mine in the process of a refit for reference if not to late, nice to see a Dormobile related post on ere and a few other Dormobile owners...

OK, so you have the 'tappet' style ones rahter than the pop-buttons, which seems to be a bit later than ours. Good stuff, and lovely job on the lift arms and the bellows-hoops. Have you had them powder-coated?

I undid all mine (which are on press-studs) with a view to taking the hoops out to refurbish, and eventually managed to get the screws out of the hinge brackets, but I couldn't get the hoops out of the roof aperture - it looks like you have to undo the canvas from the roof to get the hoops out?

In which cse it'll have to wait a year.

What have you painted the underside of your roof with?

I'm in the process of tarting up my pop top too - scraping off 48 years of worth of crap.

I'm missing the black plastic friction wheel on both handles and the surviving aluminium sleeves seem to have fused on,
didn't want to break anything so had to work around that....

I'm hoping a good clean, primer and silver spray paint will do the job

I didn't realise how mucky it was until began cleaning it !

Funnily enough I dropped off my central lifting bar and (bits of) rooflight lifting mechanisms for powder-coating in silver this very morning. I'm missing one of those triangular base plates from my rooflight mechanisms but I'm hoping it'll turn up. The van is presently more of a tool shed at the mo, and its in there somewhere...

Will be silver hammeriting the lift poles in-situ.

Have you had any success tarting up the underside of your roof cap itself? I have cleaned it reasonably succesfully but don't know what to do next. Ultimately carpet lining I think, but I want to paint it to improve it for the time being...

I took the entire cap off the van stripped it down had the van and roof cap sprayed and then had a new canvass fitted as the original was shot. The bellow hoops were press-studs but Dormobile supplied these Velcro ones which do the job nicely. I kept all original parts hinges and trim strips just replaced the lift handle for the new SS version.
