Hi to all you earlybay'ers.

Has anyone ever made an early bay calender on here.

I just thought it would be cool to get some of our van's together and make a calender for next year. I always have a veedub themed calander at home but it would be good to see some real busses that we all know on a calender.

What do you all think to this idea........any good???

I've always thought this good idea!!! I'm sick of all calendars at crimbo being splitty derived!!!

if it became a serious propersition I would gladly offer up my photography skills free of charge... but don't tell volksworld or they will want me to work for free too!!!

could vote on the 12 best EBs to feature!!!! profit to charity or to fund the forum... somink like that?!?!

personally my vote would go to the gadget bus for one... cool as fook and an inspiration to many!!!!

Free photographer too I'm liking this idea even more.

We should all maybe vote for a few vans some months could feature more than 1 bus too??

gotta get the T2D patina TV bus (I'm a bit bias for this one as they built mine for me)
Gadget bus for another
speedmaster
maybe a stock height bus in there somewhere too.
Oh and mine somewhere ;) .
We could even have a line up photo for Dec.
lets have some more ideas, oh and how are we gonna pay for all this??

Cracking idea, though have to say it has been banded about before. He might shoot me for saying this, but I think Mike F MAY have been involved in planning or similar. (Could well be wrong).
Has to be a huge amount of work, (having a pro snapper on board has to help though). Even with voting, being the pessimist that I am, can see nothing but a massive minefield when choosing which busses to use!!! If it can be done for a reasonable cost, perhaps adding a bit on for charity and selling it as a charity project may soften the blow for those whose vehicles were not chosen? Just sticking my two pen'oth in, probably talking bollo*ks as usual :D
Am led to believe 'photobucket', and maybe others, allow you to create a calendar using your own photos. Sure, it will not be cheap, but you get a choice of pics!!
Good luck anyway.

Yea one was done in 2008 and I was Mr November. Still got the calender on the wall. We all submitted our own photos and the person who orginisd it, can't remember who it was now choose the photos. It was a great idea.

Wouldnt it be ok for people to send their existing photos in to a central file by a certain date, then the admins post a voting topic, we then all vote and the best pics get through,( not white westys everymonth though!).
There are plenty of companies making calenders, but i guess most will be money up front so the logistics of paying/financing need addressing.

I think it's a good idea too, we could maybe have different months rather than 1 van could have pictures of an earlybay lineup? That way more people get there vans in the calender?

Other options could be a deluxe month, crossover, rat etc etc

sounds like a top idea, could we make sure its better than the one I had free in my Volksworld, it hasnt got a 28th of March lol

all cool ideas! okay well if you need my services....just shout and we'll organise something.... if not no worries....

one thing i would say though is the average persons (defo not saying you are all average!!!) but the average persons 'snap' shot on a small digi camera usually wont be of good enough quality for print......

depends on waht sort finish you are after....

leave it with you....

as far as i can remember we barely broke even as they didnt shift well?. I he gave up on the idea as it became a whole lot of hassle, but ill let him tell you.

Im sure it has to be a labour of love, or by someone who can get access to equipment to get it done on the very cheap or foc. The numbers we are talking about are tiny in real terms, and folk wont stump up the £25+ they'll likely cost.
I guess there are websites you can upload pics to for a generic one though? In a spreadshirt stylee?

yes there are websites out there i did mention it for a 2009/10 calender.

I have no idea what cost per unit but a traditional calender designed up and printed wouldn't cost much more than £10 As long as someone volunteered to do the design. I know we have several very good designers as members and yes it would be a labour of love. I would handle distribution but it would cost alot more P&P because of my location, sorry.

I was working on the basis that the 'Volkswagen Bus' split calender retails for a tenner ... that covers profits but is produced in tens of thousands and sold around the world by a calender specialist. I reckon a short run would be costly beyond viable? Dunno :?

if you want i can put you in touch with who did ours last year or who is doing ours this time around. worked out last (this) year we sold 50 and made £200 for charity. sold for £10 each posted.

know what you mean about everything being splitty related

drop me a pm if you want details.

from what i remember, mike did all the work himself and i dont think he even broke even on them.he did mention if we did them again and could sell advertizing on them it might be viable.im sure he was at it most the year aswell so alot of work for someone to take on
