OK guys as a follow up to the original other threads we have now decided to restrict this to one day and have a general technical/chill out open day for anyone that wants to come along.

So if people are still interested we are going to have an 'Technical/Open Day' on Saturday 2nd May (the day before Stanford Hall) at our unit near Tamworth (10 mins off Jcn 10 on the M42 or about 5mins off Jcn 9 of the M42). So a chance to meet the now infamous Gadget Boy and myself.

We will cover whatever people want to learn but will try and stick to our original plan which was:
-Routine Maintenance, servicing etc
-Replacing Fuel Lines
-Electrical, hooking up a leisure battery etc, using a multimeter
-Suspension set ups

We will demonstrate as much as people want and we can fit in during the day but if people want to offer their services as well then feel free to step forward.

We will obviously supply a buffet lunch on the Saturday (may even get the barbecue out) so feel free to turn up and say hello, do a bit of tyre kicking, chat to fellow EBers, learn how to do things on your bus and then head over to Stanford Hall on the Sunday

If people want to camp there is a choice of 2 sites within approx 6 miles so we could head there once we've had enough on the Saturday evening have a few beers etc and generally chill out or we can all head straight over to Stanford Hall,

Campsites close by are these:
http://www.mypage2000.com/MARSTON/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.siteseeker.co.uk/aspx/details.aspx?id=8120" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

An indication of whether you plan to come along to say hello would be great as well as an indication of those people specifically wanting to learn things, see you on the 2nd May if not before

Thanks Graham
Still definitely up for 'the knowledge sessions'
I have no real preference for where to overnight, but I guess Stanford may have the edge to drive there first and then have a few beers ... don't know how limiting the camping is or how quick we need to book.

Again, thanks for kick starting this - looking forward to getting the basics right

If people would like to come along, We're prepared to show you some of the topics discussed and some more that arent . One of my hot favourites is renewing your fuels lines on your bus . It costs less than a tenner and takes no more than an hour and Could save your life an that of your bus ;)

Simple things that can be done to STOP you getting ripped off by the ''Experts'' and can be done with simple tools on your drive over the course of the wkend .

This could then give you the confidence to tackle other jobs on your buses too

Im up for attending this, I live in tamworth, I keep telling myself i need to learn how to do stuff instead of just paying out money, although i do only have a late bay,

slinks away and hides in corner

I may be able to attend, it'll be a week before my first exams so in theory I should be able to be there.

Subject to me finding fuel money and doing satisfactory revision beforehand of course.

Looking forward to it :)

If people want to bring a full Engine service kit for a bay, then We can point them in the right direction and get them to fit it themselves  . That way practice makes perfect ;) And should you make a minor mistake people are on hand to help you out :D

Ultimatly if you've just got a bus and you've never serviced one before you CAN learn on the Day

Right as camping is relatively cheap at Stanford Hall I suggest those that are planning to go to Stanford Hall afterwards head over there and camp and we can create an EB camping area. Deadline for booking camping is next Friday the 24th so if you are planning on doing this you need to do it by then,

Any more for the technical day?

Application for camping at Stanford now in the post

Hi Graham

Still keen to do one of these but will have to miss this one as committed to a family get together on the Friday and Saturday
I will be at Stanford hall for the line up so look forward to meeting you all there. Have a good day on Saturday :D

Hi Graham,

Is the Technical Day still on??....I didn't think that I was going to be able to make this but have managed to change
a few things around and have a free weekend.

As I hadn't booked my tickets for Stanford Hall, I called them today and they are happy for me to pay on the gate. They
have taken all my details and are expecting us.

Are you guys camping with the other Earlybayers that aren't doing the technical day?

Looking forward to it!!

OK guys, the plan is still to go ahead with this even though we are down to a few people,

Can I just have confirmation of those that are planning to attend? and ideally what you would like to learn on the day?

Morning Graham
Still planning to attend. Bus is in workshop as we speak but is due out tomorrow!
Learning points - basic routine servicing, leisure batteries/alternative electrical set up, what to put in an 'emergency' tool/parts kit to carry at all times, suggested changes to improve stock suspension, plus as I'm picking up the fire extinguisher system the next day some thoughts on that.

Let me know if we want to open to others, I have a 'late bay' colleague that may be interested

Hi Graham,

I think i can make it, gadget boy mentioned a full engine service kit, hmm here is the novice in me, any advice what to have in this, i take it fuel filters fuel lines, clips ? any advice,

Could you give me the post code of your place so i can figure out where it is

Cheers

Pete

Hi Graham

Yes still in, pm'd you last week with details, let me know if you did'nt get it. Anything you are prepared
to demonstrate is ok with me. Could do with some info from you re address, times and is it ok to bring
our dog,
thanks Bri

OK, postcode that will get you the closest is B78 3TP or alternatively look for Drayton Manor Park which is just round the corner.

Dogs will be OK as long as they are on a lead I would have thought.

service kit is usually:
Plugs
Points
Condenser
Leads if necc
Oil Change
etc which is all available off the shelf from GSF, we have some bits in stock already but it depends how many turn up!!.

We certainly have 1 or 2 kits in stock at the moment so am happy to supply at cost,

How about arrive from 10am, we'll have the kettle on  , if your late bay friend wants to come along thats fine as long he doesn't mind being insulted about his indicators, bumpers etc etc

Can I have a rough headcount in so I can get some food in please :?: :?: :?: :?:

unfortunetly i think a little too far for me for a day trip! i would have to leave at about 5 in the morning!
cheers though...
