Want to fit a cb rotary fuel pump to feed the 2110 engine i've had built for a 1971 early bay but not sure where to put it . I will be using the golf relay connected to the coil as suggested on other threads but want the relay in the engine bay. Is there any reason why the rotary fuel pump cannot be in the engine bay too? Ive read that these pumps push rather than pull the fuel along but if placed on the to the side of the engine bay and fed by gravity from the tank will it not work ok?
Where have other folk fitted them?
Any advise or recommendations (photos) appreciated

Thankyou

fitted mine above the gearbox (bolted through the angled bit between the floor & fuel tank wall if that makes sense) with the fuel hose entering the engine bay via a new hole to the left of the tinware into left hand carb, then out again to the right hand one.

I also used the golf fi relay, mounted it onto the rhs back of the fanhousing using a generic relay socket: one of these iirc

then used two of these to make a loom that can be easily disconnected one for gauge feeds, one for engine bits:

Done over 1k on it since install & no problems yet :D

Thanks Loxy,
I have one of the relay sockets but the waterproof conectors are a good idea. Presumably you connect the fuel pump / relay wires to the connector then take feeds off to the coil/battery etc. Is the waterproof connector inside the engine bay and does it just 'hang loose ' or can it be fastened to something. Also is your fuel pump protected from the elements, this was my main concern with having it outside the engine bay
Cheers Carl

Connectors are currently inside the engine bay, they are short enough to stay put, but I will probably tidy them up at some point.

I basically made a loom that stays on the engine so coil feed etc are wired straight to relay socket etc, so the only wires that come off the engine are an ignition feed, alternator idiot light, feed to fuel pump etc on one connector & the other has a seperate tacho feed, oil temp & pressure. and each has an earth connection. The only wire I didnt use the connector for was the alt/bat charge as obviously thats much higher current. My plan is to make a matching loom for my gearbox bellhousing/stand so I can just plug it in and start the engine out of the van when required. The engine loom has been shrink wrapped so it all fits snugly to the engine.

I also fitted a hard start relay, not really needed yet, but it saves having to fit a new ignition barrel/switch at some point in the future.

I havent covered the pump yet, but my intention is to do something to protect it (although it seems to be ok over the gearbox at the moment).

Will try and get som epics at some point but probably not this week as I am heading off to Hastings :( with work.
