Electronic ignition probs

Fitted a Petronix electronic ignition today, think I have bought the right one, Dizzy with condenser (not 009)?

Anyway after fitting it the rotor arm is now too high for the dizzy cap causing it to jam when the engine is turned over! I have triple checked that the magnet is all the way down the shaft and its fitted correctly.

Do I need to get a different dizzy cap (higher?) or have I just got an oddball dizzy? Anyway I'm back on my trusty points now which are fine, dont know why I quite wanted to go the electronic route! think the claimed improved MPG might have had something to do with it

Whats the number on the distributor?

I looked for this number but couldnt find one, whereabouts on the distributor is it?

I would check the collar again that goes over the dizzy shaft - It can be a really tight fit to push it on.

The number is stamped in round the base, you may have to loosen it and turn it or clear off any oil/grease to find it, or a picture of it could help.
