Ok, my twin port is dropping quite a bit of oil and using a fair amount on a long run. Not sure if its burning oil as well as dropping it. No issues with pulling power. No clutch judder so don't suspect main oil seal.
Is there anyone near to Leatherhead who is up to speed with these engines that could take a look and advise on its overall condition?
I plan to fetch it out and would like to know what may be reqiured to get it up to scratch before a trip to France.
Plenty of tea, coffe and jammy dodgers on offer ;)

Just cos it has no clutch judder does not mean your flywheel oil seal has no leak ,pushrods/rocker covers/oil seal are the main culprits...

On my old engine the oil galley plug behind the flywheel blew out, lost all the oil VERY fast :(

Thanks for the replies guys ;)
It runs fine but it is worry that its loosing oil so will have to come out and be delt with. I know the push rod and rocker seals are always a problem, and while its out I may as well replace all the seals and gaskets regards oil loss.

Right, having given it some thought I have decided that the engine will come out asap and while out I'll give the top end a freshen up. The natural idea would be to fit new cylinders, barrels & pistons and was thinking about upgrading to 1641cc.
I've been looking at Machine 7 who do a bundle kit. Can anyone vouch for these? I note the pistons are cast and not forged. Would I be best to go for forged?
