Evening chaps,

Right, i'm going for it at the weekend. The biggests spanner job i have ever attempted   :?

I have had a small oil leak and the engine is burning a little oil so it's going to have some TLC.

So, i have new B&P, gasket set, rear oil seal and a set of Kadrons to fit. I got a friend to help so i have another pair of hands.

I have a couple of manuels to refer to.

So can anyone help me out with any pionters/advice/tips

Make sure the gaps in the piston rings are at 120 degrees to the previous gap. This minimises blow past, thus causing loss of pressure.

Have a trial assembly before hand to make sure everything fits good and that nothing rubs or fouls the twin carbs. When i fitted my Webers i had to modifly the fan housing to clear the carbs, air cleaners and linkage
most importanly double check ever last nut, bolt, screw and clip etc. basically, be anal with everything and you'll be ok :D

cheers for the tips/advice chaps, spent 3 hours taking the engine back to just the case today

I really didnt know how much tinwaer was on one of these engines  :D

Looks very much like the engine was really in need of some bigtime TLC. Oil leaks/broken fuel pump flange etc etc

It should be a hole lot better once it's clean/painted and has new B&P and twin carbs fitted ;) cant wait!!!!

Will post some photos up soon

What i could really do with are some photos of the kadrons fitted. Just need to see how they seat on the engine. (HELP PLEASE)

This is the only pic I have of mine. You shouldn't need to clearance the fanshroud at all.

Good luck fitting them, I found my bug would get nearly 40mpg on long runs with them.

Tofufi,
Cheers for the photo m8. Could i ask a question????

The manifold that i got with the carbs have a pipe tapped into the side of them :?: :?: is that just a balance pipe that runs around the back of the fan housing and just attach the 2 carbs together????

cheers

i have these on my twin 35 solex,i never connected mine together and runs fine but dont no if this correct or what, one more thing is that i had to leave one of my carbs of to get the engine back in but that depends on how high the back end of your bus is up

good luck

Mine have a rubber balance pipe going behind the fanhousing from each manifold, yes.

I also found mine ran better after they were adapted to work with a vacuum advance distributor - a smoother drive :)

Cheers m8,

Any tips on how to set them up to run on a vac dis??? do they have to be tapped???

There was a "how to" on Vzi tech forum a while back that details how to mod Dells for a vac takeoff.

edit - sorry meant kads - brain in neutral whilst typing lol

Is it the same mod on dell's as it is on Kadrons????

Dellortos (at least, my 36s) come with a vac connection as standard.

My Kadrons, in the above photo, had to be modified.

There are some pics here:

Fredster on there also did a great how-to guide, but I can't find it immediately :)

Not sure if its the same, but have you sorted the coil mounting? I bought a CB coil mount from cool air, as it fouled the linkage ... one more thing to encounter.
If you running a vac dissy, with Dells you need an anti-pulse valve, and fuel pipe reducers ... its all available easily, but stops you getting on if you dont have it ready! :) I dunno if Kadrons are the same?

Cheers Clem,
Looking at this pic i found i dont think i need to move my coil :? :?

Not running a vac dis, so i hope that i dont need anything else

cheers for the advice
