Hi,

The welding on my bus (68 deluxe twin slider) is approaching completion (woo hoo!) and after painting (groan!) it'll be time to focus on re-fitting.

So, with re-fit in mind which of the usual suspects (VW Heritage, JK, C&C, Schofield etc) are the best place (in terms of quality/price) for the following:

- cables (speedo, handbrake, heater, clutch etc)
- brakes (rear shoe kit, new pipes, flexi hoses)
- misc (CV boots, gear box mounts, gear shit bush/bellows, pedal rubbers, handbrake boot etc)
- seals (full set: tailgate, engine lid, sliding doorx2, doorsx2 etc)
- window rubbers (full deluxe set - but don't need all the inserts - only need front screen insert)

Am I best going for a one-stop-shop or should I cherry-pick the best bits from each place?

Also, is it worth stripping/repainting & re-fitting my exisiting driveshafts - or should I buy a pair of complete (pre-built-up) driveshafts off-the-shelf? There's roughly a 60quid difference in price between a 4-boot CV kit and a pair of brand-new pre-built drive-shafts. I know 60quid isnt to be sneezed at, but it seems a small price to pay for spanking new parts which should last another 40+ years - rather than rebuildin old shafts which could fail - especially when hooked up to a big motor (2007 or 2110)?

Cheers,

Mike

Here in the States we don't have a one-stop-shop , most stuff comes form Wolfsburg West but there is better this and that from places like Bus Depot , Go Westy , Ebay , etc.
So I doubt you can order everything you need from one place.
Good luck mate.

If there's much of a muchness in the quality, i'd look at delivery prices & deals of the day.

JK are currently doing a resto deal

I bought a propex and some other bits today, spent just over £500 & JK are giving vouchers worth 12.5% of my total spend for a future order. Worth nthinking about??

Personally for most stuff like rubber seals and bits and bobs, I'd use C&C every time. Then cherry pick the other stuff but always get the best quality you can afford. Also remember, customer service goes a long way
