Ok, I think the Gas hobs are gonna have to go from my bus & be replaced with a set of Fuchs.

5.5's for the back I am sure, but 4.5 or 5.5 for the front? & what size tyres.

I have 175/60 up front & 175/65 out back at the mo.

You can see what I am saying!

I have to have some. Fuchs are great.

My Mrs swiped mine, so I need some more!

5.5 and 4.5 Flat4s on mine, 205/70 and 165/65 (all from an abandoned oval cal-looker project)

sorry to crash this thread but can someone tell me why it is that you have different size wheels up front compared with the rears ...yea i know, dim me!!!
cheers doods

cheers pete nothing more than the look eh.......had a look at flat 4 fuchs, any good?
look ok to me
ste

my ideal set would be 6 x 16" all round with the front pair narrowed to 5". detailed then shod with 165 40 16 front and 195 45 16 rear. one day i'll sell a few sets and get the ones that i'm after

Are 4.5's too thin for a bus? What size tyre would it need, 145x15. It seem a bit skinny for the front.

165/50x15 on a 5.5 might be better.

From another thread, Nederbug (John) says the bus is running DEEP 6X15 all round with165/50 and 195/65 tyres respectively. Looks to me to be the absolute dogs doo-dahs with that arrangement.
Steve, some of it is down to clearance when very low, but all goes back to hot rod/drag strip stuff looks. Skinny fronts with big fat slicks at the rear. You can't beat a big fat smooth rear end. Did I say that out loud?....

Standard earlybay wheels are 14" x 4.5" aren't they (I know earlier crows feet are 4.5", but crows feet are 15")...

So, what's the most suitable tyre you should put on a VW 15" x 4.5" rim (stock VW or crows feet)? 175/55? 185/60? 195/?? Could you fit 205's on a 15" x 4.5" VW wheel?

A wider tyre might look a bit balloon'ish on a 4.5 Fuchs wheel. I gues 165 is as wide as you would want to go.

I can't go too wide on the back either as I have a flat arch model. The Burners were a real tight fit, I had to pull the rear arches to get them on.

I will try with adaptors 7 see what the fit is like, if not it's a spend up with Creative Engineering for some 5x130 rear hubs.

Genuine 15x6 Fuchs are ET 36 so an adapter might steal all your tyre clearance,
Red9 do a 10mm slimline adapter though...

Deep six all round, I need the 195x65 in the rear to keep the refs low on the highway, even with the 2ltr engine and gearbox. I like to cruise at 130 km/hour.
And at front I use the 165x50 because there wont fit a bigger tyre.
At the rear I use re-drilled T2b breaks, and in front 10mm adapters to fit the Fuchs (now GeeBees).

i bought a set of those red9 skinny adapters last year but when i fitted my rims the centre cap popped out so had to take them back. most splits ive set running fuch have no caps so it seems a little pointless to fit porsche rims when you cant run the caps

I have a spare set of deep caps I can use, so no big deal. I have the same on the Oval. (This is my old '62).
