Been having issues with the sender unit / gauge.
Changed all the fuel pipes last week and since then the gauge hasn't worked, so tonight i took the engine out and found that the sender unit wire had somehow come adrift, easy fix, so refitted it and then rebuilt the engine, tried it and again no fuel gauge. Earthed the wire to the gauge and its read full so i know the gauge is good.
My question is, if i measure between the sender unit wire and earth should i have a resistance, at the moment its reading open circuit, suggesting that either the wire has come adrift again or that the sender unit (or voltage stabiliser) are cream crackered. I assume that the resistance will increase/decrease depending on how much fuel is in the tank, or have i got it completely wrong and need a new sender?
