If it goes up an more then i think it might be worth a gas conversion :?

Thought about LPG - but am worried about the whole diesel thing back in the day, when it was subsidised by the thatcher government to encourage take up and then when became more popular the price went up to the same as Petrol

LPG is worthwhile now as it significantly cheaper, but not more efficient than petrol/diesel - if more people converted to LPG I wouldn't put it past the government to then start raising duty on it to boost income until petrol, diesel and LPG cost the same per mile as each other  - until something else comes along and it will be subsidised again to encourage use and the cycle continues!!

Yeh when I had my first diesel van I think it was half the price of petrol.I`m pleased with my gas conversion and I pay top wack for it here in Cornwall (like you do for everything) its 59.9 Ltr. :)

It is a rip off, but they way i look at it these days, a small bottle of coke at a petrol station is £1.50 something like that, and thats not even a litre!!

But you don't NEED coke to get to work ;)

No true, and beleive me it gets my goat aswell. But it is cheap when you compare it to other things. A pint of beer for example. Even a pastie at greggs! And you think of the transport costs / Refinery costs to make petrol. Then the govenment taking a shed load of tax on it!

around 77% on tax. it actually costs 17p to produce and transport 1 litre of petrol.

The big oil companies are happy making millions per day in profit, the government is happy as it can tax the big oil companies, then tax us again at the pump and tax the petrol station owners, one huge cash cow and then we have the greens shouting its great as it will keep people off the road et. rant over.

yeah try this, the a 74 between carlisle and gretna green north bound is £1.06 a litre ,cum back south opp side of duel carridge way is £1.12 it costs more to get back to england?

I think it`s about 1.18 a litre in France ,sorry I had to ask the misses cos I do not look at the price...

Our road tax is in that though...

I used to look at prices all the time in Cornwall and had to drive 15 miles to fradden to fill up ,dunno if it was worth saving 2p a litre... :?

I reckon someone should set up a Facebook group!!

HmmmMmmmM.. Now that's not a bad idea.. Thinking about how the Xmas number one was achieved by RAGE!!! and considering all the exposure the campaign got through the media makes a FB 'pissed off with the fuel price' group seem viable. You may just be able to organise one of these complicated strikes that everyone keeps talking about - the one thing the organisers of those strikes have missed is a central hub to bring people together and organise.. Introduce social networking - FB, join with an existing 'fuel concern' site, plus the Road Haulage Association and you may just be able to pick up enough momentum to create some form of protest that the government *MIGHT* listen to as petitions aren't even looked at and road blocks are now classed as a terrorist act.

I would actually join FB for this
