Gearbox/Clutch goosed?

Wife was using the van when the clutch seems to have taken early retirement. I can smell burnt clutch!!
I can select gear but when the clutch pedal is released there is no drive.

Is it a completely goosed friction plate or is there something much more serious afoot.

Just sounds like clutch to me.
Sounds like the friction plate has disintegrated.
