gearstick instalation questions

I have come away for a week in the van and my gearstick has decided to pop out of its socket!

I am trying to get it back in, but I'm confused a bit, there is a spring loaded dowel that sits in the slot in the cup. Where does the spring sit? Should it be in the cup?

I can't find a decent diagram that shows the spring at all.

I think the spring fits into number 6 the spring plate, but this must be in the correct position when its bolted to the floor otherwise you wont be able to select reverse

All sorted now. There is a small spring (not shown on the diagram) that fits in the ball of the stick. I'm missing 6! But have managed to get reverse. I'll invest in a new stick when I get home.
