Alright lads (and ladies),

Just got back from Afghan and bought a GoPro Black Edition whilst I was away, have been playing with it today whilst working on the camper and edited with GoPros free software 'GoPro Studio'.. Great bit of fun.. Enjoy the flick.. (Excuse the butt crack)

Its great for a basic edit, throwing some titles and music on.. Job done.

I think 99% of the people using it would enjoy it.. I'm using a 08 Mac which 6 GB Ram and it does ok, I tried shooting 1080p 60 fps and it doesn't like it.

I think its very user friendly tbh, timelapse are a piece of p1ss. You literally select the photos you want and it automatically formats them into a video, then you can whatever you like within reason.

I recommend it tbh.

i always record in lower fps and about half the quality as you end up with massive file sizes that take an age to do anything with.
adobe premier is really good for that more polished affect.

worth a download though if its free

Hi guy's im getting one of these my mum is gettig me 1,do i go for the silver or black? are they all user friendly,i was going to get a second hand one with more add on's 8)

Depends on whether you have the machine to handle the editing of the high end data rates the Black Edition can provide..

Have a look at both specs and see what truely you will use:

This is worth reading too:

THIS is a comparison of the cameras by GoPro

This is a good review of what the cameras offer you

I would also say, the Black Edition can be bought for £239.99 now with a remote, I think this is partially due to the release of the H3+ but if you have a smart phone you can use the GoPro app, which with the newest GoPro firmware is pretty awesome, you can wifi to the camera and see the display on your phone, you can switch between video and image, you can change ALL the settings via your phone..

Heres a video of the app:

The GoPro Studio is a free version of editing software which is great too, this video shows you how easy it is to use:

It looks like I am trying to sell this, but its a brilliant little camera..

Tell me about it... Pulled the screen out the front to sort out the cab headlining and boom, contact adhesive has gone off.. Need to order some more now grr...

Was it just me or did anyone else have the Benny Hill theme going through their head when watching this.

I would love a GoPro. Best invention to happen in video. Used a lot in Nature documentaries and Poilice Stop type shows as they as so good.

Sent from my GX64 SatCom phone using Tapatalk

haha, I thought about putting that theme on it too.. I just couldn't be assed to dig out the soundclip.

I think it becomes a bit addictive tbh.. I think I'll be buying a decent machine to edit on long term.. Wouldn't mind shooting in protune once I get used to its settings.

I went for the silver just because it cost less than £200 and did evrything I wanted it to do. Dont need a remote and the quality of the silver is more than good enough.

Brilliant piece of kit. Whichever one you choose.

J.

Just to add to this as well,

Don't rule out the go pro 2, you can get some great bundle deals
On eBay at the moment.
With all the brackets and mounts for a fraction of the price

I recently purchased a Silver Edition, this was my first edit;

Its crap in comparison to the above, I'm using an 08 MacBook but couldn't find GoPro software that is compatible so using the iMovie software that came with it...

I can't get a good time-lapse with it.

Sorry in advance, if you watch the whole video, its 2minutes and 41seconds of your life you will never get back!

Mine was shot 1 every 5 seconds mate.. shot with spot metering. GoPro do a free editing software which is much greater than Imovie. I used it for this video, get it downloaded mate.

Ok, I will go give it another look, I'm sure when I looked before my machine capibilities weren't good enough, I don't know much about computers though!

When I've tried time lapse, I've always shot several per second, maybe that's partly where I'm going wrong...

Im using an 08 macbook mate, drop me a PM with the system specs of your machine. Mine has no dramas with it, I've just upgraded to 6 GB RAM but was using 2GB with no issues.

You can change the speed that the video 'runs at' in terms of the timelapse with the GoPro Studio. Which is why mine is a bit cleaner looking maybe?
