Sorry, know it's not VW, but some folks on here know about this stuff.
Received 3 e-mails at 09.16 this morning,1 from P Bryant (my name) to my e-mail address along with 7 other of my e-mail contacts. The content was simply 'hi' and then the following link, LINK REMOVED AS SUGGESTED
The second 2 were from Emailer-demon at Yahoo, saying it could not deliver my message to 2 separate addresses.
Am a bit concerned, receiving spam is one thing but to have the message sent to some of my contacts implies to me the account has been accessed by someone else?
Obviously I haven't clicked on the link, .com.ng? Nigeria?

Any help or advice very gratefully received.

If you're ever in doubt, change your password.

What email service are you using e.g. hotmail, gmail, etc?

Check the message headers to see if the email was really sent from your own account or if it was done by someone else "on behalf of" you. Depending on your email service it might have a "via" or similar shown next to your name in the email. If in doubt PM me for my email address and you can forward it on to me.

Check your sent items folder and see if the email is there.

And .com.ng is indeed a Nigerian TLD.

P.S. edit your first post and remove the link. You don't want anyone else clicking through to their site! (warning: annoying, auto-playing, audible adverts play)

Possibly a virus which will auto-email your contacts with spam. Try a malware scan to see if it picks anything up http://www.malwarebytes.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This happened to me whilst away on holiday a few years ago. A virus had sent half my email contacts a link to a Viagra website
Fortunately some of the mail didn't get through the spam filters of some of my contacts, and the rest (of the few I spoke to) just ignored it!

It was very embarrassing as you can imagine and quite a shock coming back after a week away and discovering 'you' have apparently sent loads of emails. I change my password now fairly regularly.

Thanks folks, passwords changed. A couple of recipients have said how dodgy it looked, no one clicked on the link thankfully.
I get very nervous of this kind of thing, partly due to being so useless with computers etc that I don't know how to go about rectifying such problems.
Thanks again. :D

That happened to me a few months ago, my friends and family were getting mail in the early hours all the time as if it was coming from me :x
Do you get those foreign people calling saying you computer has a virus and to switch it on and follow a few simple tasks :!: yes right, twats they are. I which I new how to virus them back.

I was with AOL and got hacked. First I knew was when my boss asked why I was sending him Viagra adds. Turned out after many phone calls my address book was being used to email everyone which would then infect them and so on. Changed to sky in the end.
