Sorry if posting in wrong section i seem to be locked from the tech how-to section
I ordered a pair of j tubes for my type 2 bus for a few reasons. First i was gonna cancel the heating system since i dont use it in cold weather. Secondly the muffler is leaking and needs to be fixed for the safety chek here in quebec and the old pipes in the heater boxes were welded onto the muffler and i dont wanna weld anything and try to keep it original. However iwas just informed that the heating system need to work and have heat in order for the safety chek to pass.
Are the j pipes i ordered exactly the same thing as the ones inside my heater box. Im a good welder and a mecanic so i have no issues with drilling spot welds and welding it back together but before attempting something like this i wanna makes sure its possible.
If yes and to those who already did this. Any tips and trick you can give??
Keeping in mind the heater boxes themselves are in great condition.
