Well today I noticed my nearside wheel arch step looked a bit cruddy so me being me I shoved my sausage finger at it and created this

So what should I do replace the whole step?
Get a piece welded in as a get by repair?

Anyone got either a 72 crossover cut(although I've got bodged early arches)
Hanging around

I think I'm losing the rust race :|

Parts 38&39 are £39 plus postage. I've got the repair manual off Johnny at home. Fancy a night school course on welding? :)

Cab floor looks a bit crusty as well, chap.
You never win the rust race with a UK bus, you just try and draw level for a while.

On my 72 the cheapest way i did it and not that difficult was to use late bay arches cut the inner step off. put the cab floor in then make a closing panel. got the lip and no internal step, pics are about half way down the post. both sides done with a bit of effort and the price of a single 72 dogleg cut

Nugsy that's a boss job where did you get your arches from?

Hi mark

arches were new VW Brazil ones from status that were around £100 each at the time (2 years ago)

Just cut the whole old arch off, when i lined it up i put the cab floor in (tacked) then scribed the line in the arch big gulp and cut through it. All turned out good in the end.

72 dogleg cuts are around 2-250 a side. Any of the none genuine early Klockenoff arches just dont fit at all
