Im looking at buying a van that is a real cow shed find but has no docs nothin not even a reg plate how do I go about regestering it

Cheers ash

do you have the vin number? if so you can get build details off vw and go from there, a call to dvla will soon sort out relevant paperwork, if you have no vin or i.d for the van it will probably require a vosa inspection and if you're really unlucky go on a q reg.

So out of interest how have you found the bus an who have you spoken to about it?

Rob

Fair enough ill give Vw a shout then enquire with dvla.
Not keen on the q plate isnt there a way to obtain dating certificate from another country if I find its foregn
Cheers

q plate is usually a last option, if you have engine/gearbox/vin numbers or some of them you'll probably have enough proof to age the vehicle, q's usually go on ringers or kit cars etc - things that can't be dated.....

Its a bit bare for an engine lol hopefully I can find the details off Vw then if needing vic check ill try age relate the engine, it looks like it has a Ca gear box in it looks like it should of had a 1.6 in it. Ill prob Subaru convert it after again

i think the main things are proof of ownership and payment of taxes if imported. the date part is if you want a age related plate which is the easy part. i would speak to the dvla first, you wouldn't want to spend time and money to find you can not register it.

heres a link to dating it http://automuseum.volkswagen.de/index.php?id=12&L=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
