Take the rear wheels off (one at a time is probably easiest  )and hit the drum with a decent sized hammer (use a bit of wood to prevent damage to drums).
Worked for me a few years back.

Could maybe try whipping wheels off and giving the drums a reasonably firm thump with a HIDE mallet which might just help free off the shoes from the drum if they're being a bit stubborn.

Had one like this in mates workshop the other day, tried the big hammer approach no luck. Got it shifted by rocking the van by hand as it wouldn't start.

Try rocking it with the throttle :D

Done it that way before as well, seem to remember going forwards was more effective than reversing, but depends how much space you have

used to happen to the bug...

hub caps off 4lb lump hammer to the hub 8) just make sure its square and a good direct hit....

just tried the phil route ...no luck...too fookin cold now.....will give it a **** in the morning as long as the suns out....cheers boys

get it attached SECURELY (i.e. not around the end of the bumper lol) to another vehicle and keep giving short sharp snatches - that what I had to resort to to move a 4 years standing beetle.
hth

Hi, had a similar problem on my bus, but on front brakes, one was not releasing fully. Mate at work was a main dealer (some nasty french make!!) service manager and advised the BFI approach. No need to remove wheels, tap the heads of wheel bolts with either hammer (use wood to protect from damage) or use a hide/rubber mallet. DO NOT CLOUT DRUMS AS YOU ARE LIKLY TO DAMAGE THEM!!!! Where in suffolk are you, we are at rendlesham near woodbridge, just joined suffolk buggers and ordered show tickets.

cheers for all responses
DAVE.....live in ipswich but go out to rendlesham a bit , love the forest there.....good on ya for joining the club, see ya at the next meet fella, gotta blue n white microbus dood , come say hello

Hope you get it sorted....shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Not what you want to hear, but I always leave the handbrake off when parked up for a while.

all sorted now doods....rear left wheel was sticking so took off hubcap and gave the nut a couple of taps, rocked the bus and 5this released it , hey presto, realised the driveway is on a slight incline so had to jump through window to put handbrake back on otherwise it would have rolled into me works van oooerr....anyway got there and all sorted ...
love this friendly site
good on ya peeps
ste

Well done Steve , now get chocks under wheels when leaving for a while 8)

This happened to me a few yrs ago. Came home from shopping in the pouring rain, drove up the drive, parked tight to the garage wall on the drivers side, pulled handbrake up, brick behind the wheels and left in gear, like i normally do.

Went to drive it a week later and it was sized solid.

Rocking, triying to pull away didnt work, had to jack up, scratched and dented the drivers door when i jacked up cos i was soo tight against the wall  and beat the living s@@t out of the rear N/S drum to free it.

Moral of the story is when i drive home in the rain DONT put the handbrake on, let it dry out first. Has'nt happened since, yet.
