My oil is smelling of petrol so I guess I need to change the fuel pump. I want to give it a go myself and wondered how difficult it is. Once the fuel lines are clamped and noted which goes in and out is it a case of unbolting taking out the metal rod and black long piece ( note the use of technical language) then re assembling and bolting up the new one. Is it more complex than this? Any tips would be greatly received.

Cheers

If your replacing the pump it's not necessary to remove the "long black thing". The reason I say this is because they can get fragile with age and can break off so if you don't need to replace it then it's easier not to disturb it.

The carb can get in the way. When I did my'n I had to unbolt the carb first then the fuel pump. 30 mins all in. To make it easier to get the rear bolt on the carb I cut a spanner in half gives you more of a turn
