I want to try to get a snapped bolt out of my hub carrier without stripping it all down is this possible?
I have been told to heat it up and try to get 2 nuts on it

The offending item

Any ideas

I would be lagging it in penetrating fluid, then drill a hole through the middle, keep increasing the size then use an 'easy-out' bolt remover which has opposite threads so when you do it up it turns the other way to remove the bolt.
Or continue with increasing drill bits until its out!

Get an M14 x1.5 nut and weld the ******* to it . The heat will loosen it but soak with penetrating oil first

Can't work it out exactly, but I do know that heating metal expands it, so if I'm reading this rightly then heating it would have the opposite effect to what you want. That said, I could be wrong.

All the above are correct, but if you got no heat or welder to hand look like you could double nut that also.
before you go for the big un Give it a good smack on the top of the nut and start by trying to tighten a touch , then try to loosen, tighten, loosen.
if it starts to move dont get too excited and take time mate, loadsa of oil and loads of tea.
if that dont work i would try heat , final resort IMO would be an easy out

jth ( have to do this **** all day / everyday for ******s that snap **** and walk away at work) i feel you pain.

Yeah I was thinking of doing that but I've only got a small torch and also grinding either side of the bolt to turn it into a nut sort of if you know what I mean

I would weld a nut to it and as said the heat will loosen it or. Don't like easy outs, tend to snap.

Give it to me and i'll sort it ;)

Its hard to see from the photo but you cant weld a nut on it as theres no room at the back of the stud.
