idea for freshening up sun visors

I've been giving some consideration for a bit now on how to freshen up the yellowed sun visors on my 69.I thought the old cream cleanser might do it but its simply cleaned them up a bit,the colour of the 'white' plastic has I think been changed for good.

In my search for suitable paints, I've come across this...'Plastidip flexible coating' according to the website, it should do the trick.re-paint the sunblinds in flexible white paint!
has any body used this before? If not, i don't mind being a guniea pig. £11 on this spray for my OG VW visors is better than £25 for repo sun visors. If no comments then I'll get it and post the results.

Have heard that biological washing powder is good at removing stains from plastic tupaware (one of those pissed christmas conversations round the dinner table), apparently if you make up a wet paste and leave it on the surface it removes the stains from plastic.

Mmmm liked the sound of saving a few quid so I have just tried the washing powder....


Mixed into a paste with some bleach and water (half & half) and rubbed in with a green kitchen scourer for a few mins

Got the majority of the dirt out so rinsed and rubbed on again and have left for a couple of hours for the bleach to work its wonders

Those pennies can go to the respray I reckon...or the new shocks....or maybe the new dizzy, window seal, screen, seat covers, etc etc...lol

wonder if the bleach will work on the paint work ? Mmmmm :? lol

Try soda crystals. I have a bottle of liquid soda that cleaned up my sliding door hinge cover a treat!

i like this list! i cleaned my seats with degreaser, worked a treat, but they got dirty again very quicky, i thin ki need to put a protection on them!

Also the dishwaser is good at cleaning stuff, but dont think it would work on sunvisors, worth a try on a shabby sprare set though.

I know this is an old post but I thought I'd revive it and see if there are anymore cleaning tips.

I cleaned my visors with Homebase mould remover/cleaner and they came up spanking new. I also tried cleaning my massively stained front seats that were orange not the standard cream with absolutely every cleaning product I owned, including heavy duty bleach to that cleans grout. Nothing was budging the dirt till my wife mentioned nail varnish remover. So armed with my wifes bottle of NV remover and an old toothbrush I set to work -- half of my front seat is now 'like new' but it took some time to do it, needless to say my wife needs some more nail varnish remover Anyone have anymore tips :?:

When my mum made me a set of curtains she made up some covers to go onto the sun visors to cover up the shitty grey on mine now i have red gingham visors.

my mum told me to try milton sterilsing fluid made up strong, but you need to soak whatever in it. I've yet to test it though.

Im never unimpressed at the power of wet wipes. I recently cleaned an extemely oil ingrained Snap On inspection light (for eBay) with them and they obliterated the gunk.

Its a bit worrying that something so powerful gets used on babies skin though? :?

I think they are a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and ethanol. Probably explains why there are now so many alcoholics - too many wet wipes when they were babies.
