Hi picked up a 67 last night and drove 100 miles with duct tape on the key.
let me explain, I had to start the engine then when releasing the key back from cranking the engine would cut out unless you held the key (not on the starter though) but just clockwise very slightly.
Is this a known fault, and if so is there a fix???

Love the van though

cheers Tom

Sounds like a knackered ignition switch. You can pick up a new one for about 25-30 quid. Pain in the arse getting the barrel out though!

You don't need to get the barrel out to replace the switch thankfully, but if you ever need to, my advice is to take the cowling off and do it inside with a cup of tea and something on the telly. ****- if you can, do all your jobs like that. just put some leather over the carpet when you're welding or the mrs will go mental.
Just replacing the ignition switch is a little fiddly because you have to get yourself upside down or do it blind, but it's not terrible and you'll feel like a pro when it's done. There's a little grub screw that holds it in place which probably has a little cover on it.
Good luck!
