I have a 1970 early bay and have bought a 68/69 ignition housing by mistake.

See photo with the earlier one in the foreground and original still on column.

Before I have to strip the rest of the column can anyone tell me if the earlier one will fit my 70 or not?

Cheers

One as fitted to my 70

One I have to fit (68/69)

I'll think you'll find the problem will be where the housing bolts to the arm part. I did either a 71 or 72 on my 70 which was fine luckily. I did however have to get a later ignition barrell so that could be an issue for you as well.

Not much help, but maybe something to work with if no one else replies.

I'm afraid that I don't know whether it'll fit but appreciate your problem.

I did the opposite and got a 70/1 for my 68/9 which would not fit due to the 'cut-out' in the 68/9 housing.

I eventually got a 68/9 one so the 70/1 is now spare.

Thanks for the info guys, the answer is no in case anyone reads this in the future. The hole centres of the mounting bracket are way different to the hole centres of the ignition housing.
