Hi guys just need someone to confirm if my alternator is shafted.
Did the conversion 9500 odd miles ago and its been fine running my battery, split charger and leisure battery.
When driving recently the Generator light came on, have tightened the belt but made no difference.
When the ignition is turned on the G light comes on as normal, when the engine is at idle or low revs the G light is off or very dim, as the revs increase the light gets brighter.
Put a multimeter on the alternator and its kicking out 13.4V at idle, couldn't test it at revs as it'd run out of hands. I'm also certain the belt isn't slipping.
Just wanted someone to confirm if its knackered, I'm guessing the brushes are on the way out? I know the complete unit is available on exchange through GSF but wondered if my one is fixable?
