Hi All,
Can I ask a massive favour please.
As we don't have many with Westy windows out here in Oz... can someone please take some pics, closeups for me of the inner & outer rubbers?
Do they come with 2-3 different rubber sets? The guy that is doing up my 71 Deluxe just wanted to see what they look like & see some close up photos please for refit & installation.
Take as many as you wish if thats ok ;)
This is the first Lowlight I've owned... where would the best place to buy these sets/kits... also just parts in general?
I do appreciate your time.
Cheers Matt

I can get pics for you tomorrow fella. Mine are on the to do list, but should give you an idea. For parts just google westfalia louvre window seals and it'll throw up suppliers

Sorry it's late, have had major engine issues so the van has been in the garage!

Let me know what other shots you need

if you want just the outer seal:

or a complete seal kit:

we also do the window knobs:

https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/231845901W/westfalia-window-knob-in-white/#esp_pg=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can buy direct from us in Aussie Dollars which should help.

All my best,

Alex

If you can do without a rebuild I would try to keep them original. It is a hell of a job and very difficult to get sitting right.

Hi, I hope this isn't too late.

You wanted details of the main inner & outer seals.

I rebuilt mine a while back. The outer seal was a very good fit. I plastered the window opening with waxoyl & it popped in easily.
The inner seal was the only area I screwed up.
The seal pushes onto a rail which is part of the window frame extrusion. I messed around with this for while before I got the knack of of it. However I trimmed the bottom edge off as it was fouling on the kitchen unit.
When I took my stupid glasses off I noticed that the top was a bit short! It is handed.
I think the top should have the longest lip.

The whole rebuild went OK. Follow one of the guides on here. Make sure you use the short screws for the short pieces at the ends of the glass. Use lots of vaseline to help with glass seals. Once they were assembled I used the end of a 6" ruller to push the seals into the frame.
I also had to trim the corners with a craft knife.

I didn't highly polish mine but I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Hope this helps.

Phil.

After delays with other parts of the van im starting one of mine tonight finally!
