I have just had a leisure battery fitted with a split charge and would like to fit a battery charger in the engine bay so that when i connect to the mains hookup while camping the charger will charge the leisure battery. Is it possible and safe to have this wired in permenantly so that it will charge whenever I hookup to the mains to help maintain the leisure battery charge level.

Any suggestions on a good charger to use for this purpose.

Many thanks
Eden

and the price keeps going, generally any car charger will do ....

yes definately go for a multi stage charger. they do not cook a battery if they left on for too long.

they switch themselves off when it is fully topped up, then check the charge every few minutes and start up again if the voltage has dropped. mine also has a switch on it to become a 12v supply.
