Low profile roof rack fabrication ideas

I'be been looking at the air-cooled accessories roof racks (3 bow), but unfortunately they're now sold out.

Has anybody fabricated a low profile rack & if so, what base rack did you use and did you have any dramas?

I have the westy type rack from Karmann Konnection. I had a 1.5" section cut out of each end of each bow with the welds ground down and re-sprayed. The modifications are also hidden by the clamps. It means I can get the bus into it's winter storage without removing the rack. Also handy for car parks with a height restriction. Not super low but much lower than it originally was.

Like J ^^^ this is a KK rack that I modded to lower it about 2 inches......
