Lowering the rear?

I'm lowering the front with dropped spindles - 3.5"

What is the best way to lower the rear end? I still want good quality ride and the van is a camper and does get pretty well loaded with camping gear. How much should it be lowered to look right with the front, if any?

Advice appreciated :D
 
personally i like the arse ever so slightly up so maybe 3". Dont know how many splines that equates to. Ive got adjustable springplates as i plan a fair old drop on mine, these allow the wheels at the back to drop out of the arches when the arse is lifted allowing for wheel removal. Theres a fair few lowering threads about on here. Easys tyre/stanch thread is one of my favourites for eyeing up possible stances :mrgreen:
 
Think there is a chart on the technical how to's on here somewhere that gives spline drop measurments, would have thought one spline would do ya, but adjustable spring plates are the way to go really.
 
They are all made by creative but they dont have any in stock at the minute the dudes at T2D said they rarely do. I got mine from T2D they are a bit dearer but as i needed some other stuff, they did me a VERY good deal. :mrgreen:
 
You could use horseshoe plates instead of adjustable springplates, these will give you 3.5" drop on the rear and keep everything lined up on the rear end, loweredlight (dave) has some for sale in the for sale section, half the price of adjustable spring plates and easier to fit
 
Horse shoe plates are an idea,

mines a 69 too, they turned up after a couple of days.

i can't really see why you need adjustable rear stuff, i never changed a rear end once its been dropped! its hard work getting the springplate on and off and the adjustable one need to go back in same spot as the OG one to maintain the ride quality but you still loose the a-arm geometry, you can't go much lower than the horseshoe plate without starting to do body mods! save your extra money and spend it on beer ;) personal prefference really :lol:
 
Im using my crewy to carry stuff every now and again so i wanna run at the lowest and jack the adjusters up when i need to carry weight. Also i plan the body mods so i can go low and will need to be able to get the rear wheel back out after :mrgreen:
 
I chose adjusters cause we want to tow a trailer tent, this means I can lift it right back up, then hook on the trailer and let it drop back to level.

That's why i want a set, bored of having to remove the shocks every time i want to change a wheel, also Young_Dubya has another great point, my van empty sits fine once it's heavily loaded i actually need to bring the rear down a bit as the front drops substantially. (most of my weight ends up nearer the front of the van than the rear unlike it will be in your pickup)

You have to have pretty big Tyres and have a pretty low van before removing a wheel becomes an issue ;)
