I'm thinking about doing the cooking in a camper at Vanfest, anyone else?

I watched that competition a couple of years ago - it was brilliant!

Do it Dude, you're bound to win what with you being a professional and all that...

;)

What does it involve anyway, do you have to actually cook in your own camper?

One of the best bits of kit that I have is a small slow cooker...
Recipe as follows...
Get hooked up to electric or use tiny power from leisure battery
Chuck meat, veg, oxo cube, water in slow cooker
Switch on slow cooker to "low"
Go out all day
Come back to van 6hrs later
Eat contents

Well, yeah!
There was a row of vans, each with a rather hot looking owner slaving over a small burner - some were being quite exotic and there were some nice looking dressed tables too with matching tablecloths, napkins etc - they appeared to be judging all the time the cooking was going on so I guess it's not just the final result that you get scored on...

Go for it, and good luck too :D

;)

That is the kinda thing. Mine is called a Nut Brown and my gran got it as a Wedding present in 1928.

Explains a lot - my grandparents spent a lifetime arguing, each blaming the other for leaving one of these off the wedding present list.

on our recent adventure we managed mushroom, brocolli and potato curries with naan bread, pasta dishes, cheesy oatcakes, burgers, you name it we can cook it....
such a feeling of smugness when those damn horrid caravanners look down on you for pulling up in a 'hippy mobile' then we stink the site out and come out with a yummy meal :D

i did laugh when we pulled up at the services on the way home and managed to cook 2 burgers and make a cup of tea quicker than it took the family sitting next to us to walk to burger king and spend a fortune on dodgy food...

We recently got given a little oven made by a company called Beauclaire. It is a little dome thing with two shelves inside and you stand it on top of a gas ring. We are going camping next weekend so we are going to roast a chicken.:D

Basically, you can pretty much cook anything on a one ring burner! Depending on hot you can get a pan on it and the quality of equipment you are using.
Exempt the obvious things you would require a oven for such as a roast dinner!
