Modifying a Vintage Speed Exhaust

Just asking the question whether anyone has cut their vintage speed exhaust, and how you've gone about it.
My current standard look exhaust fowls my overider then sends all deposits onto the bodywork under the rear light. Thinking of just chopping around 60mm out and reselling the end on.
Any thoughts??? Greatly appreciated.
