Thanks. It’s an Eberspacher BN4 petrol heater. Looks to have been totally restored. Apparently it was an Austrian vehicle. It was all original inside as a minibus.

I got this leather cover for my litesteer motor, it looks a bit tight to me! I cannot get the second press stud done up underneath.

Tried it both ways but doesn’t seem to fit well
Whilst checking the wheel bearings and brakes on the front I saw a split boot on the upper left side trailing arm.So had to change it, I had one in the garage that seemed good quality. However when I fitted it I extended the ball joint through its range of movement and it popped off its top spring fitting.
So I bought Meyle boot from VW Heritage. This has a bellows construction so doesn’t come away

Replaced two wheel cylinders on the front left, new brake shoes both sides. Re-packed the bearings and added new inner hub seals.

I got the two new CV joints installed. GKN Lobro from Coolair. I will keep the good one I took off as a spare. They were difficult to get on the axle splines, I had to use a large socket and a BFH to get it seated!
I used the CV bolts supplied which are splined sockets rather than the allen style that were on. I had to buy a drive for them but it feels much more of a positive grip and these are less likely to round out than the allen hex style.
On the second pic you can see the old grease that came out the split boot of the previous CV joint.
Went out for a test run and all seems ok. The brakes with the new shoes seem a bit weak, maybe its because they are new or maybe I need to bleed them again.
The brake shoes will need bedding in for a few miles Mike, possibly might need another bleed if they still feel soft after that.
yes, I thought that might be the case. I didn't sand the surfaces of the new shoes but just made sure they were clean and free from grease.
Gives me an excuse to get out in the bus everyday for a 'test' drive!

you did well to get the allen bolts off without a fight. the spline bolts are much more reliable. all looks very clean.....
Thanks, I need to go for a drive in the rain or rinse the underside I can see some salt under there!

I had another drive today and also have fitted a billlet dissy clamp which looks a lot better then the standard one I had on the CSP Pacemaker distributor. It also has degrees advance marked on it.
