Seems that BBT has tooled up and had some good quality repro’s made. I trust their stuff so I dived in.
Lovely quality item. Fits well, all the holes and mounts are right and it’s heavy - all metal too.

What sort of money are you talking about Clem ? I’ve got to do similar at some point and may as well get one in ‘Stock’ for when I get my lazy arse around to doing something ‘Grown Up’ with my paintwork. But really, if they’re good, get one while they’re about.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,Something else to litter the garage with :)

With ‘earlybay’ discount it was £200 delivered from Schofields. Considering consumables costs to (badly) repair mine it seemed a no brainer. I mean, it’s not insignificant money, but not too bad for a quality bit of kit.

I was going to suggest one of these rather than an og engine lid.
The quality of BBT panels is so good I think the original metal body cut/parts market will fall.
In actual fact I know Irv will only fit BBT panels unless the customer specifies used parts now.

Yes, I can understand matching of og paint on a patina bus (like yours) , but if it has to be painted then there’s no point messing around.
It’s literally a straight fit, everything is spot on.

Thank you guys, I’ll get on to that this weekend. Then it can live in the garage with lots of other ‘things to do’ until I need to sort it out.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, nice to get first hand recommendations :)

You could lead load and file back for a good repair. Very slight skim after and epoxy primer to seal it in. Just a thought.
The rot at the bottom was one thing but the whole lid being a cm deep in filler made me think it was bent/damaged. It was a good job on the filler , it looked straight as a die , I just couldn’t think it was something I wanted to spend money and time on and end up with a pigs ear.
