this is my project for the winter. its a rhd panel van thats been converted to a camper but i will be returning it to a van.

my plans are to first make it solid and paint in grey primer. Then narrow and lower the front with 2 spline drop on the back. i will be keeping the standard wheels but paint them black and rebuilding the original single port engine. this will be enough to go to the shows next year while i get parts for my 2007cc turbo motor and porsche brake set up with fuch reps.

Nice mate , I love a Panel Van me , Nice to see someone going back to a panel rather than putting windows in 8)

Looks like a major project  - keep us posted with pics and words please ;)

I'm diggin the 2007cc turbo motor idea 8) Will that be carb fed or fuel injected?

the turbo motor will be carbed drla40's ive got some items collected already. new as41 case, cb o44 heads, 90.5 b&p, cb turbo dissy, fuel reg and rotory pump. i will be making the exhaust system myself with turbo thomas parts. i will be using a garrett t2 turbo to start with as im only going to be running low boost. once i have my crank, rods and cam i will start building the block. but before i think anymore about my motor ive got to get started on removing all the surface rust cutting the rot out to seeing how bad the van really is.

Are you filling in all the windows or are you planning on keeping a couple?
What are you using to re-fill the windows, metal cut to suit or complete sides?
The more and more i see of people returning to panels the more i consider doing the same to mine,

i will be removing all the window cut outs. ive got some sheet steel so will be just welding them back up. just brought a full width r&r bed so interior sorted. ive been working on my t4 so not moved the van in to my workshop yet. got most of the repair panels just need some body cuts for the roof, front arch and windscreen bulge then its welding time. good job im off work till feb.

i have had little progres as i had someone break in to my yard and burn my newly restored 68 crew cab. gutted! and they tryed to burn my panel van. i will post a pic soon but i dont want to look at it.

when you find them you have my permision to set them on fire :x
anyway good luck with the panel, did the same on mine made up panels with noddled edges and fitted them from inside, difficult to weld without distortion so expect to skim with filler ;) pics on page 10 panel van porn.

Argh

still not been back to my yard to see the damage. my mate has moved his camper and buggy till we secure the yard better. i have spoke to the landlard and he has moved one of the security cameras to point in to my yard. i will still crack on with it soon. still working on my t4 so will finish that first.

still not made a start on my bay. will be moving home next week as im moving out of my yard, the guy in the unit next door got broke in to and had all his kit robbed. had a good look around and i think i can get it all welded up by the end of the month.

dude! that sucks ballz.

where do you live? sound like a crime wave going on!

bumping my project back up.

family comitments and work have stopped me from starting it but now i have the money and time so will be starting it soon.

the plan has not changed but the turbo motor will stay a dream for now.

luckly there are some great repair panels available now from autowerks and klassicfabs. i will be taking my time to get it repaired as best as possible.
