Bought at the end of Summer 2021 with some known rusty steps and under window showing signs of problems. Took it off the road over winter in preparation for the summer.

First camper, fourth Aircooled VW (71 Type 3 Fastback, 66 Type 3 Fastback & 71 Fridolin)

Here are some snapsIMG_0491.jpeg1971-volkswagen-camper-610c0e3c94c63.jpgIMG_0547.jpeg1971-volkswagen-camper-610c0e3c953de.jpgIMG_0545.jpeg

Badly repaired over the years from a poor fitting window seal.

Paint all worn and tatty so trying to keep the new panels in keeping.

Original engine bar (not shown) is badly damaged from being too low so I've bought a lower profile one. IMG_0434.jpeg
New exhaust to go on should give more clearance. Nice work on the repairs and paint.
Any other areas that need work?

Not that I can see. I need to remove the other windows as the rubbers are shrunk and pours but the sils, floors and bulkheads all look really good. The battery tray has been patched before but the arches and back end are all solid. Everything else nice and straight.

Tidy repairs. And a cool bus😎

For the sink? I've ordered two different hand pumps from the US. I'm hoping to butcher them to make the original faucet work.

- JR Products - 97025 Self Priming Manual RV Water Faucet - 97025
- Valterra - RP800 Rocket Hand Pump for RV, Camper Holding Tank Faucet Pump - Chrome (US Amazon)
The problem that have found is that most new pumps don’t have the mounting screw holes at the right distance. The ones from Bus Depot have the right holes but the handle and spigot are not a match.

I save my old ones in hopes of successfully replacing the “o” rings but find it’s a lot easier just to buy a new pump.

I have no bottom piece to the two spigots I have. There is only the top section and plungers. I'm hoping I can remove this piece and use it on the original or at least use to see how one is made and mock one up on the 3D printer.

leaking push-fit. I epoxied it in as the idea of a 50 year old push fit holding out scared me.
