Well appearances can be deceptive!!!!
All my welding, which I thought was getting better, was in fact useless!!!
Well the bit along the top of the latest big patch at least!!!!
Apparently I'm struggling with my penetration!!!
Feel to insert your own jokes here!!!

Anyway my panel beater pal came in tonight to help me, he redid a bit of my welding & put I. A couple of patches I made...

Small amount of progress Tony!!!
But progress never the less!!!

Took 2 hours & 2 attempts to make this patch

Above mentioned panel is in!!!

Then things got really ugly!!!! :scared0016:

WTF , indeed!!!!!!!!

Technical question, how do you lift the cover on the bottom of the steering column up out the way????

Something to do with the plastic clip???

Mine just had the two screws mate

The plastic ring at the top just clips in

I managed to get the plastic ring out the way, it's in a bit of a state now mind!!!

Anyway, a bit more cutting out tonight, always looks worse before it looks better!!!!!!!
Right?

I'll keep plodding along!!!! :)

Spent all day on it today!!
Didn't get much done like :(

New panel trimmed.

The edge of the wheel arch is rusted away.

This bit will need chopping out next.

Patch made.

& welded in.

This is the sort of thread I signed up for. I haven't welded before, and i'll need to get used to it if I'm going to keep my bus, so it's nice to see this step by step flow of how it all goes together.

Much appreciated!

Jeezus  don't take any notice of me!!!!!!!!
I'm fumbling my way trough too!!!!
I'm having bother with my penetration still ( ooh err matron!)
But thanks for your comments!! :D
Anyway, I'm cracking on!!
Another 2 hours older after this lot!!!

I might ask my panel beater mate to weld this bit as its a butt joint!!!
I'll need to make 3 different patches to fix this lot before I can think about putting the floor panel in!!! :sad0049:

Ha, it's looking alright to me. Seeing someone else learn as they go on helps with the whole confidence thing anyway.

grab a welder/mask/scrap 1mm sheet metal and pop over to http://www.mig-welding.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Great starter tutorials

Used it when I was learning

Still no nearer fitting the cab floor!!!
Cab step has turned into a :msn4: job!!!!!

These are some of the bits I've chopped out, so far ,

Actually looking forward to Monday
So I can push this bit on some more!!!!

Somewhat prematurely, maybe!!!!!
But we went & picked this up, to , eventually  go on the back of the truck!!!

What are rapidos like to put up lee?

They always seemed like a jigsaw/ikea flat pack to me?

Made no difference at all on the back of Kat's Jag!!!
My 2.0 bay would push 75 with one on the back, not sure how a 1.6 will handle it??
There's definitely a knack to putting a Rapido up!!
Luckily Kat has it!!!

Quite happy with tonight's progress!!! :D
As I mentioned I've made some patches up, luckily my mate , Guv, popped in & took over from my , not quite as terrible as it used to be, welding!!!

The patch I made earlier is on the right, the left hand bit is the BIGpatch I made next!!

This is the full patch!!!

Only another 2 possibly 4 patches to make & fit till We can fit the floor panel!!!! :bliss: :party0006:
