Nice to have a van again!! even if it was only a short deviation!!

Due to a prob with the brakes, i decided to have a clean under the front end while the new parts are on their way and the back plates are at the powder coaters.

Well, i knwe it was good, but never thought it would be quite this good under all that waxoil and dirt!!!

Well impressed!! :D

I sure did mate!!

Bit of a bad decision to let it go, but am happy again now i have this bus!!

The Speedmaster will always be Tims Bus as he made it what it was and it would be a real shame to change it, so, This is my bus, the paintwork is pretty hideous, do not worried about changing that!!!!

Have been thinking what i want to do to it and i think i want to keep it stock, Original Pearl white colour and just really clean on top and underneath!

There are lots of Pearl white busses rolling on alloys and dropped suspension at the min, so nice to be different!! Plus it drives so nice as it is, and safer at standard height too, so not worry so much taking the youngens out in it!!

Just want a really nice clean bus i can use, which is comfy and reliable for long weekends down the coast! I must be getting old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't believe how clean the underside of your bus is

Keep those pics rolling dude 8)

That is unbelievable, bet your well happy finding it like that underneath.Wish mine was like it.

Stuey - congrats Man - I looked over that bus several times and if it wasn't the fact I was committed to another one winging its way across.......

for the haters this super clean bus has been in the UK for awhile and although only recently got papers - has been on Tim's site for what seemed ages....People just couldn't see past the faded paint.

Those shut lines are awesome and I know it wasn't a majorly dear bus either - keep this one eh?

Tim certainly has an eye for good sh!t!!

what did you use to clean up them there arches, mine have all the original crap on them but too look solid, but where do i start????

Ha ha Yeah, this one is staying for sure!! I have always hankered after another splitty, but having drove one for a mate a few weeks back after having a bay for a while, i no longer want one!! Bays All the way!! LOL

Tim does Know his Shit for sure, real nice guy!! He was selling this one on Behalf of a friend tho i believe!!

I saw it sat in tims yard very early on in the year, and it looked Horrid!!, I wasnt looking to buy then tho, still had the speedmaster, rememberd how solid it was tho, and here we are!!

With regard to cleaning arches, originally they were just painted body coulour. Previous owners will have protected them with whatever over the years. I was lucky as it was just coated in Waxoil, literally just wiped off with a rag and some thinners!!!!

THat Underseal on yours, looks similar to how my oval looked, i attacked gently it with a soft wirebrush, gentle scraping, and heated it up a little, then wiped with rag and thinners. Not a fun job but worth the effort!! :D Hard not to damage the paint tho with a scraper.

May even chip off easier if you wait til the weathers really cold, it may go more britle then. Just take your time, and make sure you dont go in the house coverd in the stuff!!! Er i made that error!!!! :D

Anyone else got any ideas??!

Hi!

Yours has certainly come up a treat, that is uber clean! The underseal on mine is really thin, nor thick or soft at all, and you can scrape it off when it is loose, i think a pressure washer may shift some, i will try that, and maybe a rag and thinners too..... Would love to get it like yours. I have noticed that the seam sealer on the edges has cracked and flaked off a bit too, so will have to reseal all the seams.

What are you dooing to protect the nice paint underneath? I think you can get POR15 in clear? Or i was gonna rustoleum mine in colour matched pearle white......

Cheers!

Alistair

Yeah i have to re do the seams too, got some sealer the otherday, in gray to match the original. Was thinking oj just clear waxoil, but not sure. Whats POR15??

There is a pint place nectdoor to work, am heading there no to see what they have to offer!

Will report Back!! :D

POR15 is a paint like hammerite.

Stockists in the UK

Though i am not too sure if you can get Rustoleum in clear? I know you can get it specially made to a colour of your choosing - which is what i was gonna once i manage to shift my old underseal.

Cheers!

Alistair

They couldnt help as the specialist wasnt in, have to wait until next week!

In the meantime, Further progress includes, getting the front brakes together, all shiney, freshly painted and greased up!!

A million times better than it was!

Wanted to get it finished today as fancy a run up the coast to Scarborough tomorrow, havent had chance to have a good run it it yet other than driving it home from Stamford.

Got some tunes it it now too, so a bit more enjoyable!

Check out my clean and shiney brakes!!! Just a shame dont get to see than too often!!

Not too much progress of late, not too much fun rolling around underneath it in the dark with only a lead light for company!!

Hopefully get the whole underneath cleaned up and protected/ painted over xmas. go a whole 11 days off!!

had a few trips up the coast in it to Scarbrough with no probs and the heating works a treat!!

Want to pull the engine and box to get it all cleaned up and a new coat of paint, but really cant stop using it!!

Started making some replica westy interior panels and got a headliner template kit off Grazy so get all that in soon too.

Be nice to get the cash together to get a new coat of Pearl white on it before the spring, but need to get my 66 bug finished and sold on first. have to get my finger out!! :D

Wow, amazing what posting on here and looking at other busses does for insperation!!

Been out there in the cold tonight, got it jacked up, motor out and into garage, totally stripped, all tinware off packed into boxes and awaiting delivery at the powder coaters tomorrow! Hopefully get it back before the xmas break, then i can start painting the other bits, under the bus etc ready for the new year!

No nasty suprises either ( apart from the fan wasnt tight on the back of the dyno), even the tinware under the barrels came off easily and is nice and straight. Really pleased i got stuck in now as found where the exhaust was blowing and also possibly why it back fired a little. manifold wasnt tight!

Will take some pics over the weekend when i get to work on it in the daylight!! :D

Got all the tinware back the otherday!! two days and 80 quid, Absolute bargain!!

Got the engine all cleaned up now, almost ready to start putting it back together.

Got the box out too, drives shafts and stub axles off and all cleaned up.

|Nearly ready to start cleaning and painting the underside of the van! Been and got the paint this morning!

Really enjoying it, but not too much the cold weather!!
