This weekend hoping to make a start on my car port & Gates..
Pissed off with not being able to work on the Van when I get back from the grid... and being constantly harassed when I do!
But its a great place to keep in the winter months so Im forever grateful to my in laws.... :D

Large task ahead! hardcore down, Whacker sorted along with i pick thing to dig the posts out.
Then **** loads of timber blagged from work along with some big *** poles should do it!!!
Yea right.... watch this space...and my back!!!

Old one off.

Works a treat.

Then fitted pullgrab handle.

Makes for less slamming. 8)

Is this the cause of my van not running that great?!

Have read up a few things on here that made me think...
runs ok for a while then lumpy, duznt idle properly, cuts out quite a lot and generally a pain in the arse!

I would try a std carb yeah, or a nice set of dells/webers :D

Would I be better off buying a new one and taking it to someone who can set it up rather than attempt it and took it up?!
How easy is it to replace...well more to set up I guess!?

Here ya go have a read thru this
http://www.vw-resource.com/carb.html#ports" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Most of the time carbs just have the wrong sized jets in em
Some of the after mkt carbs have poor casting and never run quite right.
It's all easy enough to do yourself.
If the right carb has the right jets you can set up the idle and mixture at home and it should run fine. A specialist rolling road will get the best out of it but shouldn't be necessary :D
Go for it - you just need to find the right carb for your engine

1600 single port - 30PICT/3
1600 dual port - 34PICT/3

Might be worth checking the jet sizes on what you've got?
