Skegvegas will be the first event but unfortunately we can't sell the burgers or pulled pork there :( there will be veggie options and possibly a fish option.

How come no real meat?

The organisers don't want to double up on the types of food available, as we were late confirming there was already traders supplying burger and pulled pork so we missed out. Disappointing for us but we couldn't commit until things had progressed with the Puck.

Ill get my coat

 I wont repeat what she just said!

Only just seen this but Good Luck to both of you, hope it goes well for you.

I'll be in touch about a couple of planned events for next year :)

If it`s still hot when you kick off,, the one thing I like as a sarny when it`s warm is Salmon and some sort of cream cheese. You can charge an absolute fortune for these (and I`d pay it) when it`s warm. I have been working in a shopping centre near me and there are loads of supermarkets, sarny places etc etc, and they was all sold out of salmon and cream cheese sarnies by lunch time Monday, then all the Tuna ones were gone (apart from with sweet corn YUKKKK !)
Just my take on what I`d like when I`m at a show,, maybe a few of the other peeps could give ideas as to what they`d like at a show ,, might give you an idea or two ,, might not  It looks like you`re starting off with a bit of a disadvantage because of the late decision, but you might come up with some real good options as well. With the other stalls allready being ready to rock so to speak,, they will be all geared up for burgers or bust, you have a little advantage in that you can vary your offerings slightly as your are still getting set up. Exciting times indeed,, so good luck with it and I`ll rack my brains for things I like when I is at a show,, as we all get a little bored with burgers after the first day, then start to look around for something tasty

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,, Good luck,, good luck and good luck

We have been thinking of cooler options given the recent weather. Wraps were one thing we thought about (easier to transport and keep fresh) so ideas for fillings are welcome along with anything else you want to see! We are limited on space so we have to pick carefully. One alternative we've considered is crushed new potatoes with a dressing, maybe a salmon and cream cheese one could work well.....

Oh forgot to say that we will still be doing meaty breakfasts at skegvegas. Just in the process of sourcing some top notch Lincolnshire sausages and good quality bacon.

Defo, get in for Bristol Volksfest dood. Pitch up near The Old Volks Club and we will eat you out of er van and er puck

Another one to add to the list to look into, cheers mate :) Bit on the far side and they weren't accepting caterers in 2013 so we'll have to contact them and see about next year.

Just had the veggie option falafel for tea tonight. Normally prefer meat for a meal but it was very tasty

I wish you every success with this new venture, it's always encouraging to hear of somebody taking the plunge.
My wife has a small business which makes sun canopies and she does a range of vintage looking ones for campervans and caravans. She's recently supplied one for somebody with a vintage catering caravan (http://pollythevintagecaravan.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and it sets it off wonderfully. It may be something to consider for your little puck?

Another style is a dome shaped one which offers more head room...

Hannah has been talking about a canopy so I'll be dropping you a PM shortly, thanks :)

Well Hannah has started taking photos of the food. As the pulled pork seemed to get a good reaction we decided to go with that first. The pork is cooked for 8-10 hours depending on the size of the joint, it just melts in your mouth. It's cooked in a rub of paprika, muscovado sugar and salt and then left to reabsorb the juices. The one in the photo is portioned up the same as we intend to sell it and is served with coleslaw in ciabatta roll, I'm stuffed! Comes with a Budweiser BBQ sauce if you want it :) As I said before this one wont be at skegvegas but will make an appearance at the field of dreams in York.

More photos to follow this week as she runs through the options at home :)

 Sorry mate! I think I'll be taking some pork along for me, might be able to sneak you some  A trial run for the Lincoln lot could be a goer as well at some point pre skegvegas.

Unfortunately we probably wont be ready by then, and it's the day of our first wedding anniversary. Will pop it in the diary for next year though!

I'll book you a table mate :D Keep an eye out nearer the time, we intend to do a few freebies for the earlybayers ............

That pulled pork looks great, I would definitely buy one! And I'm super fussy too having my own food business. Good to see a quality bread to hold it all together and direct the juice into your mouth!
Are you using the shoulder/butt for the joint?

High praise indeed, thanks :D what is your food business?

We tried a few different breads and the firmness of the ciabatta worked well, others went a bit soggy due to the moisture in the pork and coleslaw. We are using the blade side of the shoulder for the meat, works really well :)

I had a pulled pork roll from Silverstone on Friday and it was terrible, dry & chewy meat with onions for some reason. All for the bargain price of £6  I've become fussier too since we started this venture

I've got a foodie pub called the Pelham Arms it's in Lewes near Brighton. We use a rolled pork shoulder for our Sunday roasts, if we have a quiet Sunday and there is lots left we cook it down and pull it, it always sells well on the sandwich board.

I think you should do well, the Americana style foods are all the rave at the moment. I'm a big fan of pulled pork, I love watching Diners, Dives and Drive ins to see how different places go about doing it.

Hope to see you at a show, are you doing any in the south east?

We'll have to keep an eye out for your pub if we are ever down that way :) Hannah loves that program, we watch hours of it every weekend. We haven't got any planned in the south east for this year, we are trying to stay fairly local as we find our feet. Could be some for next year though :)

So here's tonights installment, it's bagel day! So first off, and especially for ozziedog, is the salmon and cream cheese bagel, it comes with red onion and capers (optional):

A veggie option of grilled mediterranean vegetables with cream cheese and thai sweet chilli sauce:

And a portion of minted new potatoes with cheese and jalapeños. There will also be an alternative with a cream cheese and salmon topping (pics of that one tomorrow):
