which is the best new standard carb?
currently running a 34 pict 3 vw solex but as it was bought secondhand i am not sure of condition.
so far the bus starts, ticks over and runs fine with no known leaks (idling only, cannot fit inside engine bay when bus is travelling to notice any  ).
i have bought a refurb kit but i have read or seen somewhere about bushes?? or something else that is prone to wear out.
where are they?and are they easy to replace.but due to no known running issues i am reluctant to strip it down at this point.
so as to my question if i wanted a standard new carb what are my choices and where is the place to get it?

regards.

A genuine solex carb will be better than an aftermarket copy. Hence re furbing a basically sound carb to cure a problem is preferable to replacing it with a new but inferior one. (if there is a problem)

Spindle bushes can be bought and fitted if they are worn. Check by seeing if there is lateral movement on the spindel.

A worn spindel will cause poor idling and maybe some leakage at tickover but wont be particularly noticeable during driving.

If its running fine and not leaking why mess with it?

There are a few on Vzi/Samba who will do exchange rebuilt solex carbs - the challenge for many is getting a Solex in the first place to use as an exchange! I've bought several "Solex" carbs that turn out to be stamped as bocar solex :(

as above - the Solex you have is likely superior to any new built carb you can purchase - I personally just bought an EMPI pict 34 and left it in the van as a spare just in case (after tuning and getting it running on the van)

the Brosol h30/31's i rate as good aftermarket replacement.

i had one in my van for a long while and no issues with it

In my experience the problems with idle on the solex is down to muck in the air ways in the carb,
I would try stripping the carb take out all the jets and give all the holes a good blow out with an air line, then rebuild with your kit and it should be ok.
It's worth a try before you spend your money.
