after 6 years out of the air cooled scene, i have put a deposit on and will be collecting this tuesday a 1970 Westy Tin Top, i spotted this forum advertised in the back window of the blue 1970 in this months Camper & Bus mag, so thought i had better join.

any way here she is, let the modding begin!

firston the list is a good clean, then a check of all the brake lines, probably replaceall the rubber lines

then a decent slam job, i have to get it under 2m to get it in my garage, so will be looking for the best lowering method, probably dropped spindels, but i'm not sure if these will lower it enough, or where to get them from.

then its just getting it nice to use, so new curtains and rear seat covers, i dont want it to mint, i just want to keep it usable, so i can get in and go!!

I'm so happy i could **** lol

Welcome from another Westy tin top owner,

Its a great forum with really friendly people and advice, look forward to more pics of your new bus

Hello and welcome :)

Nice bus you have. In reply to your query I think that spindles will drop the front 2 - 2.5 inches. Theres loads of threads about lowering in Volkszone and The Samba - you should be able to get some ideas from there.

There are several peeps on here who have lowered many vehicles (some do it for a living) , so any questions! just fire away. :D
