hey guys,

got my first van a couple of weeks ago now and thought it was about time i made myself known! i've been trying to read up on the forum and its been very helpfull so far.

she (yet to be named) is a 1970 and i got her from a guy on vzi (scotti in exmouth). the only pics i have of her at the moment are the pics that were used to advertise her. hopefully they are below :? . any of you know of her?

the front end is possibly not one for the purists, but we love her!

i more than likely going to have a raft of questions and queries over the coming weeks and months, so please excuse me in advance for some dumb-ass ones!

Welcome to EB

porsche rims, really cool colour and the front end look pretty good to me, looks like a lot of work went into it.

thanks fellas, i appreciate the kind words. obviously i can't take credit for the work done to her, but i'm aiming to put my own stamp on her over the winter. she has come with a load of pics of the resto and a fortune in bills - made an interesting read.

our 1st real outing is going to be Vanfest in sept, so maybe i'll see a few of you there.

i'm currently preparing a list of questiond for you guys to answer for me, so get ready!

Welcome aboard, i guess im still newbeish my self if you look at how many posts some of the guys and girls have posted its a nice friendly forum and its a nice looking bus you got too to go on it :) loving the front end.

A cracking looking bus my friend, look very tidy. Whats the interior like, lets see some more pics!!

these are the only interior pics i have guys. she is currently residing in my friends garage as mine is too untidy at the moment and i think i need to change the door to get her in!

the bumper does look cool although its a touch rough in real life. thinking of whipping it off and redoing the paint. was also thinking of doing the front badge in the same colour scheme.

regarding the interior, i'm hoping to put a sink and fridge/coolbox in as well as a leisure battery and 240v hook up. still making my mind up about the curtains, etc! :?

mmmm curtains are loud :D

looks like a hefty sound system

yeah sometimes i can't hear the system for the curtains!!

the sounds aren't all that loud to be honest and one of the 6x9's has blown. gonna investigate further when i have time as i'm not sure if the amps been set up properly as the sub doesn't perform how i would have thought it should.

wasn't keen on the wheels to begin with but i must admit they're growing on me. really fancy some fuchs though...........

expensive and hard to come by but you might be able to find some 6Js a bit cheaper and they should still fit with adapters, be careful if your buying repros as some dont really look loke fuchs at all.

cheers johnny, i'll bear it in mind.

by the way if you were to recommend a manual for doing jobs on the old girl what would i be best off using? haynes? or is there something better out there?

the first job i need to do is sort out the sliding door as it doesn't close flush. theres about 10mm of daylight visible from the inside at the bottom.

when you close the door turn the handle as far upright as it will go which pulls the door in tight into a locking position, does this make a difference?

There are 3 or 4 good manuals, most recommend John Muir - how to keep your volkswagen alive, for mechanicals, theres Haynes and also Bentley. I prefer Bentley but the Haynes is also good, and John Muir is handy to have for trouble shooting engine problems

hello and welcome. that is a real nice bus. we looked at that and were so very tempted ! but it was the top of our budget, so went for something for less money so we had some to throw at it! look forward to seeing it at vanfest.
