Thanks for the info fella, tried the directferries site and got a quote of £40.50. A bit different to the £64 plus £1 visa card fee and further £5 fee...... for making a phone booking because their website was not working as it should...... Expressed my opinion to of that to DFDS at the time....
£70 to book in September or £40.50 booked through a third party (who obviously take their cut) 8 weeks before. Seething with rage doesn't come near, tried phoning (premium rate number....ha ha ha) to complain and cancel/refund but they close at 8pm.
Will I have calmed down by the morning?.. or worked up into a homicidal frenzy and 'God help anyone who gets in my way going to work tomorrow!'
And yes, this is exactly the same crossing on exactly the same DFDS ferry but booked through a third party. I like to think I'm not completely naive and am somewhat worldly wise, but even so, all things considered this stinks.
OK, whilst I'm on a rant ('cos I hate being taken for a mug) a couple of years ago was working in Scarborough, got a lift up there but needed to get home so went to the train station.
One way Scarborough to Peterborough £60 (ish, forget exact price) Exclaim horror at price to staff, reply being 'You can have a return for £61'. I ask how they can justify £60 one way but just £1 extra for return? (And if I'd wanted return I'd have asked for it....)
Apparently if I'd booked 7 days in advance it would have been cheaper, had I known 7 days earlier then I would have taken the 'kin car and done the return trip for £40 at a time that suited me.....
Why are things that should be so simple and straightforward made so complicated and expensive?
