The driver and passenger seats were seat covers we got off a guy in Poland for 80 quid but the rear cushions were done by a seamstress(she had the heavy duty machine)

Great looking bus fella, loving the tin tops :D

If you want a bit of security on your unit doors try these Magnet catches they are easy to fit and are quite cheap ( I cant remember the exact price) about £12 for 4, I think. They cant be seen from the outside and the magnet opens them when placed on the outside of the door. We have one fitted to the thin table storage door under the overhead locker, to stop it flying open if we brake hard, and one fitted to one of the low units just for a bit of security. They are available from a company called dreambaby.

You may want to try this you never know where it might lead!
We put our registration number in google to see what it would throw up for a laugh, anyway it threw up a link to the VW owners club forum, and a post dated 2005 asking if anyone knew the whereabouts of this bus, we replied saying we now owned it blah de blah. The guy who posted it replied, saying he had given up hope of trying to find it, and would love to see pics of it now, we obliged and he replied telling us the history of the bus as he knew it,
His parents owned the bus between 1974 and 1978 in the Essex area, they were the second owners and had to get a second mortgage of £1200 to pay for it. It was originally white over blue. He said that he had many happy memories going on holiday with wait for it, his parents and SEVEN brothers and sisters and a DOG . He explained the seating plan, Parents in the front with a small child on a seat between them (we wondered what the rubber stoppers were on the side of the seats were for), 3 older children on the middle seat behind them then three more on the rear seat, a small baby in a carrycot in the rear and the dog jumping about wherever it wanted. It can't have done him any harm as it seems he has a successful Architects practice in the West End of London and seems a really nice bloke,
He has promised us he will send us some of their pics of the bus when he goes to his Mams.
We can't wait

Ooooooooooo slideshow. How posh.

Bus looks very nice. Good job. Are those Carlton GSi alloys?

yes they are Carlton GSI, machined to fit.
Here are some pics of our bus in the old days from the guy who's mam and dad owned it between 1974 and 1978,
