A mate of mine popped round on Sunday afternoon and asked if I fancied a little drive in the country. In this...

Keith has had this Mini for a while, built it from a bare shell. It's been used a bit, but now it has a turbo and by God does it shift!!!! The speedo goes up to 90mph and with the needle of the clock, (on a private road of course, cough) a bootful sent it surging forward again! And round corners, well it's a while since I've been in a Mini, forgot what they can do. Nearly shat meself!
Thing is, Keith has done a lot of R & D with this install, and when he said "Have you ever thought of a turbo for the bus?", well, a little smile appeared on my face, 'cos that idea has been floating around for a while. Now I have a knowledgeable and eager 'partner in crime', have to get off my fat ass and do something about it.......

Have thought about it and am thinking of it, combined with a full management system is on the cards.................. ;)

Used to be into the mini scene and have owned 4, the idea behind turbo'ing minis comes from the fact that the mini A series engine is the same as used in Austin metro's (MG etc) which if you remember from the 80's there used to be a Metro turbo so it was only natural to drop this engine into the mini.
Love the look of your mates mini with the sportspack kit and 13" wheels but just not practical for me any more with 2 little 1's although sometimes i do think..............need to stop thinking
Most turbo'd buses are built around the renault 5 gt turbo carb,

what and how much would it be to fit a turbo to a tp engine as i have wanted to do this for a while now and is it possible froggy what sort of things would you have to harden up in the engine

Here's a nice turbo'd engine ;)

From my mate Shawn's split. 2276 fuel injected turbocharged and soon to be chargecooled. Ran 14.8 on the strip at Big Bang as it was still de-tuned, but should be getting in to the 13's at Action. Estimated HP at the flywheel of over 300

We had a quick blast in this through the campsite at Spa and it was just amazing :D
You usually hear this bus before you see it ;)

Very tempted to get my bigger engine turbo'd at some point in the future 8)

Depends on loads of things dood but i would say for a new turbo with all the correct odds n sods expect to pay around £1000+ and you will need to look at fuel management etc ;)

nice one easy maybe this will be my next challenge after i have purchased my double wish bone from red9 ;)
