Now What ?

Went to start the van when leaving work,engine only just turned over,no clicks just slow turn over.
Bugger flat battery !.Sat pondering for a few mins and just thought i`d give her a second chance.
Engine wized over and started straight away ?.

WHY ?

New starter fitted last year.
Connections look and feel ok.
Earth looks ok.

Any ideas.
