Having myself a little problem...I have an early 72 bay, 1700..and it seems to have a little oil leak!! It started to spit oil out of the filler cap and subsequently all over the engine..having fitted a just in case new oil filter and checking gaskets it ceased for about a day and instead of just now spitting through the filler cap (although this has now reduced dramatically) it is starting to come through the exhaust..i have a few guys who know about these thing who are willing to take a look but any ideas??

Sounds like broken or worn piston rings.

Do a compression test, anything less than 100psi its kippered.

This is the best way to go. Check the compression whilst praying :D

Would say oil blowing by a piston ring and being forced out.

Initially through filler but with new gaskets it's easier to be pushed out through exhaust valve.

Best way to find out is a compression test.

Does the exhaust smoke?

If so what colour and when?
