As a newbie to van ownership can anyone offer any guidance.
I seem to have an oil leak an the front(rear?) of the engine where it attaches to the gearbox. Today I cleaned it all up to find the source it is collecting on the lowest point of the engine. The engine was new less than a year ago, before I bought the van, and has only done about 600miles. Is this a common leak area? Or is it going to have to come out to find out more?

Cheers

Nathan

Common oh yes. More often than not it turns out to be the rear main oil seal.
Engine out job, sorry.

If you are dropping the engine out, then check the flywheel while you are at it. Run your finger over the area the oil seal closes against. If there is a ridge then you might need to replace the flywheel (or have it machined). If it is badly worn then even a new oil seal won't prevent the leak.
