PACVWR Parts Arrived

The other topic was locked so I figured I'd post in a new topic, just to maybe give some hope to those waiting for their parts from PACVWR. Just today I received the repro Westfalia trailer spare tire bracket from PACVWR...essentially a month after I ordered it. As others predicted the welds leave a bit to be desired and there is some spalling still attached. I'm not sure that the steel was that smooth to begin with as in some places it almost has the hand-hammered texture of wrought iron. That said, it's the complete kit that I ordered, looks like it'll serve the function for which it was made and should take well to some cleaning up and repainting. Worse comes to worse it's an acceptable template/parts list should I want to make a new one. I don't believe it was worth the USD 150 I paid for it...I'm not excited nor am I disappointed.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know...the package was not from Reezvaan but appears to have been sent by a guy named Ameer. Sadly, while waiting for this to arrive (and with less spare cash to work with heading into the holidays) I had to pass on an original Westy bracket...hopefully I'll have another chance for one in the future.

The packaging was too bizarre...the parts were wrapped in plastic film, then stuffed inside a computer keyboard box and taped shut...the put in some kind of fabric bag and sewn shut, then further closed with sealing goop and pressed with some kind of a seal (Pakistani customs?)...my address was just written on the outside of the fabric bag. The parts did arrive, though, so what can I say...and I had some decent communication with the guy after I contacted him via the PACVWR Facebook page.

Maybe this isn't the Reezvaan guy...and if he can just improve his communication a bit, the product quality and his product packaging he might get a good thing going.

Well, it's useful $hit..like chicken poop, it can serve a purpose. If this were a front emblem, or something a little more visible, I'd definitely be disappointed in a part of the same quality. I'll bead blast and cost this kit with POR15 grey and perhaps not give another thought to the fact that it sits under the trailer exposed to all the abuses delivered by the road. Not like my spare wheel is all that great looking either ;-) Perhaps I'll make up the cost by cranking out some better quality repros myself. Welder, drill press, bending setup and access to higher quality stock should give me a good head start.

At this point, and from the other stories of PACVWR deals gone bad, I'm just happy to have received anything (and wish the same were true for all of his customers).
