Hi - my first post...

My 1972 Crossover US import has a padded dash (LHD). I want to strip and powder coat it. Is it easy to strip off the padding? If I need to replace it will any early bay dash fit?

Many thx

Think its possible but possibly cheaper and easier to sourse an original non padded unit and powdercoating that?

P.S Welcome :)

Padded dashes also look different when stripped and have crumple grooves cut into either side. They actually look allright, just depends on what you want. See what I mean in this thread. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=292156" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yes, that's the impression I was getting from reading through different posts but wasn't quite sure

thanks aspro - very helpful. I think it looks better back to metal but I wouldn't want those side slots
